The Mars Phoenix Lander may have taken its first close-up look at ice on Mars. While it's been known for a while that water exists on Mars, this would be the first time humans have been able to take a close look at actual water on Mars, assuming that it's not just some rock that looks like ice.

This is really cool: NASA has managed to photograph the image of a spacecraft descending on another planet. The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter managed to take a picture of the Mars Phoenix Lander as it was descending with its parachute deployed. While the image is not sharp at all, it's really impressive when I think of what it's showing.
The Mars Phoenix Lander has successfully landed on Mars and is successfully transmitting back to Earth. This is cool news. It worried me a bit that it might crash like the Mars Polar Lander did back in 2000. Guess it wasn't the Martians who shot down the Polar Lander...
